Hello from a newcomer :)

Hi everybody, and first of all - thank you for the great board!! I have been visiting this board for several months while looking for my beast and finally last Friday I got it: 2000, 53.600km, Le Mans Blue with two-tone interior. Will post pictures soon. I am getting acquinted with the beast and plan to do some basic maintenance: filters, fluids, tires, etc. But before that I want to do some "Italian Tuning" to it (5,000+ rpm for 45 minutes during several days ), so my question is this: can I use any fuel system cleaners like for example that Red Line SI-1? Will it be OK with such sophisticated engine as S62? Thank you in advance.

Welcome! FWIW, I think "most" of us use Techron (Chevron's) fuel system cleaner occsionally although I will probably get flamed by lots of "I use this instead" postings. IIIRC, there was some consensus a couple of years ago on this.

I would HIGHLY recommend doing the "basic" maintenance on this newly acquired beast BEFORE you flog it at high RPMs (unless you are REALLY confident about the previous owner's maintenance habits) . At least change the oil

Cheers, and Welcome

I was thinking more of a Liqui-Moly fuel adiditive in this regard.
It cleans out the whole fuel system incl. valves and spark plugs for max performance. And of course not knowing how exactly the Beast should run, I'd make sure my sensors (cps,maf,O2) function properly

Welcome to the board. This is a great place for info/gushing about our Beasts. As far as additives go, I've never used any, and probably never will, given as how the S62 is already such a complex powerplant. Not saying it's a bad idea, just that I'm more of a "if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it"-type person. But I'm guessing most on here know far more than I do, and can probably give better insight. Like everybody else is saying, just check/clean/replace your wear items (MAFS, O2, Fuel Filter, Sparkys) and get yourself a Peake Code Reader. It will save you bigtime $$.

Thank you, guys Great to be here. The first round of the overhaul of my new beast is scheduled for tomorrow: filters (air, fuel, oil), oil, tires. The only concern that I have is that my indy (who is a former BMW racer) is using vacuum method of changing oil. Is this a way to go for the beast? Regarding a PEAKE code reader - I have it and it says that exhaust CPS is on its way out (get an 06 code, but not SES light .. knock on wood ). So it will be replaced next week. Once again - thank you for your help.

Welcome and I hope u enjoy being part of the crowd here
As for suction VS draining, I would Highly recommend the first method. It was performed on my E46 and actually the amount of oil sucked out is a little more than the amount that was usually drained. Also it came out with more slugs and stuff that you don't want to keep in your engine. The method is valid too for bleeding the brakes, changing the trans. and the differential fluids.
Regards,
