Edit Posts - A Petition
The E39 discussion is not only most relevant to me, but it's also the most active discussion on the boards; so I'll make my case here.
I have used InfoPop's Ultimate Bulletin Board (this software) on other sites, particularly car sites - in fact, we use UBB on a couple of our own web sites.
Without elaborating on features and details, UBB allows users to edit their previous posts. There are a few things I've posted here that I've had to correct, wanted to elaborate on, or wished I could withdraw altogether. I doubt I'm alone.
Please Gustav and crew...enable Edit Posts!
And now, a la Jerry Maguire...

I agree.
Another nice feature on the Porsche board is that it shows how many time each post has been viewed. If you have a question and you don't get much response, you don't know whether it is because nobody read it, or they read it and either don't know or don't care. I'd love to see this info added.

I'm with ya Alps...
The www.supercars.net UBB has quite a good structure and many good features, like the edit post feature and how many times the topic has been viewed...
But one other feature i'd like to see on this board is the order of the posts.. i think that the starting topic should be listed at the top, and subsequent posts below that... so you are reading down normally, not from the bottom up...
just an idea...

Now you can EDIT posts!
Hehe, OK guys, the voting have started. For now it seems 5-0 to edit posts.
Seems like I should turn this function "ON"...

i vote YES also, edit posts, and hits on posts. I have also seen on ubb where you can see which people are browsing the site, i have seen this on honda-acura.net. not sure how they do it, but if that is possible, that may also be nice. and definately yes to posts being posted down, not up.

they also show who was the last person to post in a thread right on the front screen. That is also very nice, an indicator of who has been writing. ALSO, they also have the page numbers right near the thread, so you can jump right to the second page if the thread is longer then one page, also nice. sorry if this makes your work harder gustav, but just a suggestion.
thanks

I am voting for the edit function as well, but I want to keep the order of the messages the same as it has always been. Whenever a thread gets long, it would be ridiculous to scroll all the way down every time someone adds a post. This way, you have to scroll to the bottom only once, when the thread is new.
NICE!! I'm glad this board is a democracy... heh heh.
