540iT getting dirty (Pics, Vid)

So I did something kinda stupid with my wife's Dinan S2 Touring. I found an old dirt airstrip and thought it would be fun to do some drifting. I've done this before with no ill effects with my M5, but the ground was a little damp. This time it was bone dry and, long story short, I chewed up my otherwise 1/2-used rear tires. No other damage was done to the car. So, enjoy the pics (vid at the bottom).

Two pics of her Touring, clean:

Doing some runs down the airstrip:

Powering out of a doughnut (we put an LSD on her Touring):

It's really hard to drift an automatic vehicle, when you can't lock the car in a particular gear. Consequently I was getting up to 50-60mph toward the end of my runs.

Doughnut and duststorm:

More drifting:

Afterwards the car was a little dirty:

Love the "speed streaking" of the roundel dust, lol:

HERE is the video.

Btw, if anyone is wondering my wife's opinion on this activity - she is the one who took the pics and vid. Although she is a little perturbed that she's got to drive my truck while we wait for new rear tires. Overall she's been a sport.

Our wives need to hang out!

Actually, after doing the Drive for the Cure event in a 335, 135, and Z4 Coupe... My wife has gotten the bug of what all this HP/FUN thing is about!

I hate to have to clean the vehicle after an outing like that!
Matt
P.S. I need good places to eat in San Diego, figured you might now, not sure how often you go that way... Moving there in a week...

-COOl, you'll be much closer to me then! Taka is a really good place for sushi and other Japanese fair. 555 5th street. There's a great Mexican joint in old town - Old Town Mexican Cafe. Humpries is a really good restaurant too (fantastic eggs benedict!). I don't know a lot more, because I don't get down there too often. Ask 1mpowerme, or some of the locals like Ben Carufel, DRM or Batman.

p.s. Glad your wife's starting to come around

Looks like fun!

Air filters...

Here in Chi-town, the drifting bug bites often when there is snow on the ground. I usually put my 540i through all manner of maneuvers... it is a blast. Fortunately, the tires don't suffer much with the slippery stuff.

This is exactly why I don't like to buy used cars, especialy used performance cars. How would you like to have just purchased your nice used car and then seen this video of how it was treated before you got it.
