34 MPG M5

Who needs a hybrid?

I forgot to reset my Comp 1 before leaving the gas station. So I reset while on cruise control at 80 mph, going down hill, and drafting a Prius.

Drafting a Prius...thats a good one!

Seriously, it is amazing what wind resistance contributes. One night I was doing my 26 mile commute home and there was a strong tailwind. I thought I'd try a hyper mileage run, and arrived at home with 29 mpg (US) showing on the computer. Normally the best I can do on that route is 26.

I usually get the finger from prius drivers.....but that's because I wait till their window is lined up with the back bumper, then downshift and floor it. 130+ db is usually enough to anger the eco-geeks

Yeah, but you problably just made their day. Now they can sniker for the next hour about that evil BMW driver that is killing our planet!

PS - I work in renewable energies, so another reason to have the debadged M5 in the far (and shaded) corner of the lot.

You could rebadge it a 528i....but then we'd have to call you a poser! (a reverse one at that!)

From my experience with most Prius drivers, even downhill, at 80mph, you'd be pushing it with your front bumper... Although I guess that's bump drafting...
