carsoft: vanos service position

I already took apart my vanos unit, I used a gt1 computer to set the vanos to the service/assembly position before taking it apart. It seems to advance all the cams by 60degrees.

I used my buddies gt1 computer that he borrowed from the dealership, it's not really practical and I might have to do it again for the other unit.

What I was debating is buying carsoft but I am not sure if it even does the vanos service position?

If not, since 60degrees is end of the range of vanos adjustment wouldn't applying air pressure and activating the vanos solenoids do the exact same thing?

I know that Carsoft 6.5 will not do anything to the vanos service position. I would imagine you have to have the GT1 or some other special BMW tool to perform this.

I would think so. I've been wondering this same thing and I don't see any reason why you couldn't activate them the way you described.
