Okay so last fall I got hit hard by a rock from a huge truck, it was the middle of the night we were the only two cars on the road I was only going like 40 mph and it came all the way across the freeway. Sucks, but it left a small dent next to my kidney. So I am finally getting it fixed becase the paint is starting to chip around it. So I went and got a couple of quotes, they were are all around 550-600 bucks to fix it. They have to remove clear coat, and pound the aluminum back in to place, so they are also going to get all my little stone chips fixed to, which is great cause I have a few of them and they show on white. So what am I worried about? I am worried about leaving my beast anywhere that I can't see it over night, I don't want some young kid at the shop taking my car out, so I am thinking of leaving a note with mileage and set the trip at zero in my little deck upfront, is that a stupid thing to do? They are very good collison center and have been in business forever, I am really going there for convience, I would go other places but it would just make the whole situation more complicated and expensive. This is the first time the beast will be staying over night so I guess im just thinking about it to much. Thought I would share.
I don't know, but I mean where do I go to get something done like that you know. I asked if they had the matching alpine Paint and they said they did, or would get it.
How many places did you check out before settling on that one? If you checked out a few, what made you choose this one?
Usually they have a bunch of photos in the lounge with cars when they came in and pictures of the same cars after repairs. Look for some semi-expensive cars and you'll know that owners of those cars trusted them with it.
I went to three places, this one was the closest however. They are huge collison center, and have been in busy for over 45 years. I guess im just skechted casue the area is not that nice, but the shop is great and is a new building. They were the first shop to tell me that they didn't need to repaint the entire hood, which was good.
Here's a link the paint process that they use seems to pretty darn good, and that is what I am most worried about is the paint of course.
The fact that they have a Prowler on the front sign is enough for me to know that they're cool
I think you'll be in good hands. Just write down the mileage and if it has more when you pick it up, bring it up and ask why. Don't be a dick about it, just curious.

Relax man.
I love my beast as much as you love yours, but let's be realistic...these cars aren't really that exotic, and most people are not as obsessed with them as we are. It's not like you're leaving a Bugatti, Ferrari, etc. These guys see lots of cars...probably lots of nice cars, I am sure that most of them aren't gonna be willng to get in hot water to take a 6 year old car for a joyride.
Check the place out, if it seems legit...I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, what Mark said. Chances are no one is going to mess with it, but it is obviously something that bothers a lot. Simply mention it up front with the manager. Just say "I trust you guys to do good work and treat my car with respect, but this is my first expensive high performance car, and I'm worried about joy rides. Please make sure that no one drives the car." And then have HIM note the mileage on the work order.

1. Write on the work order- where you sign- that they do NOT have permission to perate the car off their premises. Right down the mileage too.
2. The statement "They were the first shop to tell me that they didn't need to repaint the entire hood, which was good." is a half truth, so to speak. They WILL need to paint the whole hood with CLEARCOAT,,, (if they don't, RUN) but they may only colorcoat part of the hood. I guess their definition of "paint" is the "colored stuff"?
I don't like "big shops"... to many unknowns, to much employee turnover, too many trainees.... I like small, very high end shops where I know who is doing the work, I can talk to them, they know I will be hyper-critical and they know they can meet my needs.
No surprises...
