Try this as your base. It was done by a fellow who measured his car interior with a "pink noise generator" to achieve the flattest, most even frequency curve. This is what you when listening to music. Minimal coloration.
Here are the results:
With TONE and DSP sliders to Center/"0" position, the M5's sound system generated too much energy at (Hz) 30, 80 and 120, and not enough at 480 Hz and way too much at 1 Khz. Above 1 kHz the frequency response was generally low.
On the DSP EQ, the following settings generated an almost even (flat) distribution. Almost because, hey it's a car not a sound studio!
80: 0
200: -2
500: +4
1K: -7
2K: +3
5k: +5
12k: +5
Room and Echo : 0 (This is a personal preference. Myself, I hate adding something the "band or artist" didn't add themselves)
TONE controls: I like mine at zero, but you should only use these to vary the sound depending on the source, Radio, CD, cassette... once you have set the EQ.
