problem i experienced: whining sound starting at 3000, got very loud almost overbearing to hear by 5000
-above 80 mph no matter what, this whining sound became blaring, almost like a shrieking

solution: told my wife to shut up

In the SHO world, we referred to those as AWAs - Audible Warning Alarms.

Be aware, however, that some do not have an 'off' switch.

Going down to the garage tomorrow

To ask them to look at the diff. I got the car 2nd hand from BMW. It was one of their press cars in th UK. (Not the racing fleet which get thrashed) but those used for shows etc.

It is only 10 months old with 8000 on the clock.

Will report back

Re: ROTFLMAO!!!

LOLOLOLOL

why was i suspicious that many other people have this same design flaw . I have found a couple of other techniques that may also work:

1. sedatives administered 30 mins before a nice 'sunday' drive
2. a mink coat
3. diamonds
4. the excuse that the Macy's 1 day sale will be over in 20 mins.
5. We need to get to the in-laws because there's just never enough time we can spend with mom
6. this is what the doctor recommended to cure 'post orgasmic attention span deficit' .
7. This will relieve my headache
8. shut up (already discussed in the previous thread)
9. huh??? what speed limiter?
10. respect my authority (usually never works )
11. get out!! (same results as (10))

I get the same phenomenon but I find it isn't speed related; it's more afactor of how many g's are being pulled +ve, -ve or lateral. However, the beast moves so efficiently that I can do 120 mph and not get any of the whining.

gears. mine does exactly the same at the described speeds. every car with a strong diferential will make some noise more or less. i have done quite a few ring and pinions on the back (that is whats there) and every one of them had a "character".

i would not bother doint anything about that particular one. if anybody thinks that our gears are noisy, s/he has never heard a 4.10 richmonds in a muscle car

ps. now stalling with the clutch in- that is not good. i would definately have that one checked.
