I've been a fan of E39 M5's for quite a while now, and will hopefully be getting into one in the near (read as a year or so) future.
I have been shopping around and getting info for a while and have been trying to get a test drive, but they all seem to be sold as soon as I make it to the dealership or nobody wants to talk to me while I'm there.
I am currently a student at The University of South Dakota pursuing a degree in Business Marketing/Advertising, still have yet to decide. As it goes with the typical college student I tend to live off Ramen, and macaroni and cheese saving every penny for books and tuition, and now comes this car. As I said above I will hopefully be getting an M5 soon.
Its good to be here, and hopefully I can get a drive soon.
I just bought a 2000 M5. 41,920 miles. Silver, black interior. Lowered, anti-sway bars, M-tech front end, Magnum Super Sprint full exhaust, TMS shark injector race version. Photo here
Learned a bunch here already. GREAT site!
I also have a 91 Galant VR-4 and a Datsun 240Z that I took down to the shell and built it the way I like it - race suspension and brakes, 500hp small block chevy. Site is here.
My name is Phil from the UK. I don't have an M5...yet... but I am looking to buy one before Christmas this year!
Currently I drive a Robin Hood (Caterham-esq) kitcar & a Vauxhall Cavalier. I also have a Type-85 Audi Quattro sat on my drive in the process of an engine transplant.
I recently sold my '96 Audi S2. Lovely motor, putting out around 300bhp & 330lb/ft. I know its not quite E39 pace, but it would have kept up with an E34 nicely. She's been sold again recently, and the advert is still up... Audi : 1996 Audi S2 ABY Coupe - one of the last made!
I've always wanted an E39 M5, and as of late, they seem to have dropped into my price range, albiet the insurance might be a bit hectic for a 23/24 year old! My Dad has an E55T (non-supercharger), so it would be good to have something to put frighteners up him!
As a prospective M5 driver, I am pleased to have found this site. Though I am currently without a BMW in the fleet, I have owned a few over the years starting with a '69 1602 back in 1972.

Sounds good! Same guidelines as most forums give as much respect to others as you'd expect back in return!
