I didn't take any pics sorry and forgot to mention that I will also be replacing the two central exhaust hangers.
I should imagin my car is not to happy with me at the moment, I wouldn't like if somebody came along and started adding crude bits of materials to my body.

Putting something flammable against very hot exhaust pipes sounds like a great idea..........

I also had the same problem with the rubber hangers in the middle of the car getting stretched out, and allowing the exhaust to sit on that brace, giving off a rattle.

I also noticed that, over the 2 or so weeks that the old hangers remained in place, my exhaust note was all over the board.. this was obviously dependant on exhaust temperature and ambient air temperature.

sometimes it would just rattle, sometimes it would sound awesome, sometimes it would just sound like a cut-off exhaust system..

Anyway, point is, when I got the new hangers in, my exhaust was back to normal. I do believe that wedging wood under your exhaust made the sound different, I'm not certain that the results would be the same on other cars..
