What's that ACS thing you got on your center console?
How much did custom paint cost you?
Thanks Fiori!
The ACS on my center console is the ACS DFC Suspension Control.
ACS DFC means AC Schnitzer Damper Force Control.
It used to be a while ago - my opinion - the most advanced M5 E39 Suspension ever built.
It has three settings - Sport, Intermediate and Race Track all of them controlled by a single switch located on the console.
It was a really expensive ... about $6K (Control Center, Electronics, Wires, Coilovers.
The ACS DFC is made by Sachs Race Engineering ... Made in Germany.
They also make suspensions for F1 cars ... if this matters.
Few pictures ....

The instalation manual is here.

Here's another thread about ACS DFC
A short test is here!

Some people like it some not!
Me? I REALLY LOVE IT and no matter what others say. To me it's the best ever and I will never replace it with something else!

The bad news ... they don't make this suspension since 2003 or so ... no chance to get a brand new one on today days ... it's gone forever ... sorry about ...

The paint (based on the Car Sticker ... still I have the sticker but ... it's gonna be somewhere ... cannot find it right now) if I remember right I think was about two or three thousand dollars extra.

I know what you mean ... the bobcat and that red truck ... I just parked the cars between ... as a protection.

Michael,
Here is a link how to retrofit the rear fog lights. Not a big deal ...

I've done the rear fogs because I'll go back home in Europe soon too ... nothing left to be done in the States anymore ... everything goes DOWN !!!
I'm lucky a have an escape ... otherwise ... I don't know ...

Thanks for the instructions! I am actually surprised to see that you need to run cables the entire length and width of the car. I thought the wiring harness was the same for EU and US versions, but this does not seem to be the case.

What else are you changing on your car to comply with European regulations? I am doing the headlights on mine too.

Yes the situation looks grim in the US now, but I think they will be the first to bounce back as well. We'll see I guess. Europe is not bad in any way. I made a conscious choice to go back to get a better work/life balance. That the 'Ring is so close as well as Italy and France does not hurt either

Cheers,
Michael

Ah yes, I am going to do rotors as well. Cats should not be necessary to change.

It was my dream car back then as well, and I was looking for the perfect example for several years before I found mine. It is number 48 out of 57 ever made, and it is the last one made in Alpina Blue Metallic with the manual transmission. The second transmission choice was a manual gearbox with an automated hydraulic clutch, but that was not very reliable as the 25 or so B12 5.7 Coupes were the only cars ever fitted with this system. It is truly a great car with a lot more personality than the 850CSi. The engine is much more responsive due to being balanced, blueprinted, ported, polished and built with lightweight internals lowering the rotating masses. Alpina also made exhaust headers for this model, which with the stainless steel free flowing exhaust, the carbon fibre hood, the lower/stiffer suspension and of course Alpina wheels give the car away.

In order not to hijack this thread too much, here are some links rather than pictures:

:trop hy_bronze:INSANELY BEAUTIFUL CAR!!!!!!!!:trophy_b ronze:

Please get that key chain out of there! If you ever drove it hard that thing would tear the hell out of your dash! (which I may add was as clean as humanly possible).

Any chance of the trees hitting the trash can as well?

Ok, I need to preface this by stating that I LOVE my Avus Blue with Silverstone/Black interior... that being said... If I could have custom ordered my interior/exterior, it would be Hellrot with Black/Red leater interior. I absolutely love these pictures. What a stunningly beautiful car. I can't say enough about the Hellrot, it's striking.
