I'm sorry! [Needed: Houston member to do a drive by?]

Ok, I'm sorry I lost my head (Sold two M5's) for a few years (and my health) but I'm back. I owned a '01 M5 and sold it, bought a '02 996 tt sold it, bought a '06 XKR sold it and bought a '03 M5 sold it and bought a XJR....and well, I miss the BEAST!!! Hey, I've owned BMW's, 5 series, for over 22 years and wanted a change. I guess you don't know how much you love something until it is taken away. So, I'm looking for, shall I say, another M5 and found one in Texas, I'm having an independent shop do a pre purchase inspection (inclu. code checks). It is difficult for me to fly to Houston (I live in San Diego) and was wondering if the report comes back good to great should I buy it sight unseen? OR, any members in Houston want to test drive it for me...I'll pay for gas/time/lunch. I promise I will keep this one.

i purchased mine sight unseen, over the phone, while sitting on top of a garbage basket in the 25th ID HUMINT intel office in Tikrit, Iraq. I called the dealer in Tucson, AZ [I live an hour away] to see if the had an M's, they had received their first trade that year [it was October] the day before, it wasn't even listed yet. I took it as fate, haggled as much as I could, and dropped a note on it. I love it.

It isn't the only BMW I've purchased sight unseen. In 1997 I bought my 1987 K75S [6k miles!] sight unseen over the phone from a guy in SLC while I was getting ready to PCS from Ft. Lewis, WA, to Ft. Huachuca, AZ. I still have it, it now has 55k miles on it. And it's bombproof. Get a good feeling about it and do it. Or don't get a good feeling from it and walk away. But don't let the whole sight-unseen thing scare you. Good luck!

Don't buy it sight unseen. You can get to houston and back in a day. (I used to visit Dallas in a day, there and back, from Sacramento.)

At least someone should be able to do a drive by for you...

Good luck

I hope you're using Bavarian Machine to do the PPI.

Which M5 is it? I've looked at most of the ones for sale in town over the past few weeks. I can give you some good intelligence.

That is where I purchased mine from! Bought back in June, 2006. They were pretty open, and fair to deal with. I'd have to look back in my notes to see who the salesperson was, or who did the PPI.

Hope it all turns out Ok for you!

Good luck!

JP
