745Li vs.M5

Question:

2001 M5
2004 745Li

Would you trade your M5 for a 2004 745Li (price not an issue)? I

No chance, I considered a 760 about 6 months back, it was fully loaded, had the ECU remapped (supposedly had 495bhp!) and the 760 comes standard with EDC so the body roll was greatly reduced when pushing.

The car was fantastic, fast, comfortable and VERY roomy!

It just didn't feel any better than my M5 and was definitely lacking in other areas where my M5 excelled!

Plus - I still LOVE the looks of the E39 M5

Thats strange

I considered an E39 M5 a while back, but it wasn'y handling any better than my Caterham R400 Superlight so I didn't bother.

Ok, ok, good point

I guess what I meant was that it was not really any much more luxurious than the M5 and the M5 had more to offer - for me anyway.

I didn't write the car off, just postponed it I guess.

Again - good point

Tx mate.

I drove one for 45.000km's, and its just a car that is needed when spending a lot of time behind the wheel. Its much more quiet and the auto-box is also a lot better than the E39 manual with all our traffic jams. The car is also ergonomically VERY sound and the seats are MUCH better than any other BMW.

But again, you'd have to need one before getting one IMO. If I could choose when and where to drive, I'd prefer a faster, smaller car, but on those days when one spends more time in the car than outside it, its a second livingroom.
