UK MOT & Xenons

As my headlights have now stopped auto adjusting and are currently pointing about 10 feet in front of the car I just wondered if anyone knew whether the MOT checked if they are working correctly or if it's ok for me to simply adjust them higher and not bother getting the adjuster motor - or whatever is bust - replaced?

I don't actually need them to auto adjust for load as there's never more than me and the missus aboard.

My car came with self-adjusting headlights but they also had the knobs that allowed me to adjust them myself....do yours have this?

To find out, pop the hood and you should see 2 knobs in the back of each headlight.

Yeah mine has 2 white screws on each side which have a star screwdriver pattern in the top.

It's just that I have a vague memory of someone telling me that the annual MOT over here included a check to make sure your Xenons (specifically only Xenons) did the little auto adjust dance when you first switch them on.

My Auto-adjusting Xenons on my old e46 M3 stopped working and were stuck at the top position, so I was getting flashed by every on-coming vehicle! Warranty sorted it out thankfully. Hope you get yours sorted!

Cheers.
I think I'll check with an MOT station tomorrow just to make sure what the situation is before the warranty runs out.
