what is included really in an INSPECTION II - nurburgring trip!
the thing is, my car has done about 78000 km and i did a regular oilchange a few km ago and an inspection I before that. Im going down to nurburgring in 2 weeks with this car and im gonna drive a few laps on the ring aswell.
Now my question is how important is inspection 2 exactly, you think i could make a safe trip down with the car by just an oilchange till im back ? the friggin inspection 2 service costs around 900 USD and thats not the kind of money i have available at the moment when im going down. Shoot me with your ideas fellow m5 owners!

if your out of warranty just do it yrself, the inspection 2 is the same as inspection 1 exept for sparkplugs and i think coolant flush, its basicly a ripoff, since im now out of warranty im doing my own,its not like the m3 where you need the valve clearence shimming etc ,the only thing that you cant do is call up faults on the diagnostic machine the rest is simple, look in the back of your service handbook, piece of cake my friend.

If you want to wait for the Insp 2 until you get back just change the oil before you go but consider your indy checking over your car. Suspesion, brakes etc.

I am sure that would be ok, however I think brake pads are part of the inspection 2 and a general check up on other things.

Suspension, Brakes, and Belts...also make sure your PS fluid is between the two lines on the cap/dipstick, make sure you have enough oil when you get there (and some extra for the oil you might burn when there)

Poyan: I'm going down to Nürburg in May and I have an Insp1 coming up. After have called a few BMW dealers in Germany I have found that it is much cheaper doing it down there. Most likely the same goes for Insp2.
Good luck on the Ring.

Thats a good point, while in the mother land (for the beast) get your inspection 2 done there. More chance of finding someone who really knows their stuff.

I did a quick checkup at a bmw dealer, brakes needed a change, the front ones. other than that the car was okay, i bought some extra oil for the trip incase it burns too much.
Now for the inspection 2, my car has done 81k, and it has 3 green dots left from the last inspection so i guess the second inspection isn't needed untill those green dots are gone, or is inspection 2 totally related to the kilometres of the car??
appreciate your answer guys! ill also drive by a local dealer down in germany, home town of the beast and check some prices. I think im the only m5 owner who spend every penny i have to drive it, not a very smart buy but its a dream car so every penny i save up goes to the car repair/service/gas/payment/insurance... you name it.

You don't need an insp until the 3 lights have been turned off. It is not based on how many km you have driven. It's based on how much fuel you have consumed. I think it's 2500l of fuel between services.

News to me !!!!....the green inspection lights go out in according to how you drive the car..for example if you drive her hard all the time the service schedule with come around more quickly and if your a sunday driver then the green neons will take considerably longer to go out........in both cases it is advised to change your oil more often than the service indicator advises !!!
