        Typical coolant and oil temps?

        Hi all,

I just picked up my '01 CPO M5 today (Titanium Silver, Silverstone sport interior, wood and fold-downs). Love it so far. I was wondering if you could answer a question about the temp gauges. First, coolant. Most BMW's I've owned had the needle straight up when warm. This one is to the first dot - noticably below half (I'd say about a third). Second, oil. My estimate from the guage is 175-180 deg-F. Is that normal?

        Thanks,
        Norm

For mine, the water temp usually sits a little below 1/2 way. The oil temp runs between the second and third (middle) mark depending how hard I'm driving. At Sears Point, the water went into the red and the oil was over half, but not by much.
