Who would win?
Just curious,
If an e39 M5 were to race an S60R. Who would win? Would one kill the other? or would it be a pretty close race?

I saw this on youtube and the S60R won. Probably due to the fact that it has four wheel drive and the skill of the drivers behind the wheels.

But I think that the M5 would win almost all of the time. I could be wrong.

Very much so! There is a video on youtube that shows a heavily tuned S60R beating an M5. This isn't the video I was thinking of (can't find that one), but the driver's skills certainly is a huge factor!

I actually forgot about that car (probably 'cause it's not that fast)

Road & Track 10/2004 tested a 0-60 of 5.9 sec

shouldn't be to tough to beat.

It wouldn't even be a competition. I like the S60R, but the M5 would just destroy it. For me, the only battle Volvo will ever win against BMW is comfort of their seats

Talking stock for stock obviously.

An S60R makes what 220kw, some 80kw less than an M5 (I think torque is in the 400Nm range?). These cars are similar sized and weight.

With that kind of difference in engine output, driver skill excluded, the //M5 will murder the Volvo
