Discovery Automotive Custom D/A crank case breathing and oil separator system

DA/DA car owners,

Can you expand on what this "Custom D/A crank case breathing and oil separator system" is all about, how it is different from OEM and any advantages?

It has to be different because in the OEM setup the crank case is drawn (breathes) through the two oil separators directly into the lower plenum during vacuum and then there are valleys in the base of the plenum that allow any oil drawn in to be drained back to the sump however the lower plenum in the supercharged setup is sealed.

There are no significant advantages for an N/A gal however a requirement when supercharged and by doing so there is a secondary benefit being that there is no residual oil aka vapor within the throttle body area.

Takes care

Shadowman, Many E39 M5's display a significant amount of oil within the air plenum area(sucked in through the oil separators) and oil consumption is high in sport mode/racing conditions. How do you explain this high amount of oil in there and do you see a link with high oil consumption while sport mode/racing. I am thinking that the current oil separator design causes high oil consumption and maybe going 3rd party might help? any thoughts? http://www.stefs.com/products/drysum...eathertank.htm
