Fresh wash/wax with pics...

After my Roebling Rd weekend a couple weeks back, she needed some love. I still havent gotten around to ordering the Porter Cable yet, but I decided to give it a go with a 10" orbital polisher my dad already had. first I washed, then claybarred the hood, roof, and trunk lid. Then I used McGuires Swirl Removed #2, followed with the Polish, then the Yellow Wax #9 (I think thats what they are - going off memory here). Since this was my first time, I just did the hood with all three of the products, then applied just the wax to rest of car. I guess the machine I was using doesnt have the strength to really get rid of swirls - after I was done I parked the car in the sun again and could still see them. Guess this means, I really do need to buy the damn Porter Cable... anyway, here are the results:

Hope you like!

Looks good, you'd need some full sun shots to see the actual finish, but maybe you don't want that since you weren't impressed with that 10" buffer.

The PC can do amazing things for being a random orbit. I rarely have to break out my Makita because I'm just so impressed with the effectiveness of the PC and the fact it won't burn paint.

Nice! Good luck keeping it in that state...

I took the car out for a refuel and noticed the dreaded swirlmarks....GAH! Can't wait for weather to be a little warmer so that I can take out the porter cable and give it the beans.

Yeah - no sunshots needed as you probably have an idea what they would look like... kinda like a classroom of first graders had been asked to draw circles on your hood with razor blades. But hey, at least I can work outside - and we had a beautiful sunset tonight I might add

Looks outstanding!! Wish mine was that clean. BTW, in pic #2 is that a crack underneath the passenger side bumper. If so, I've got one there too. Been meaning to fix it, but haven't had time.

if you really want to get rid those swirl and scratches permanently..

you have to use pure polish. Not those off the shelf mainstream product that usually contain filler.

I would use Menzerna product, I would started out with Menzerma Final Polish II, or Menzerna Intensive Polish. These are pure polish and contain no filler or no wax. But the result after you did this, is real (what you see is what you get).
I would use Menzerna product in confunction with Porter Cable as PC is safer and doesnt cause burn in paint. These polish solution is abbraive, so unless you're experience I would not use orbital buffer. As typicall orbital buffer is more powerful than PC which could cause burn in paint.

The problem with all purpose (one easy application) product out there, they just hide these swirls and scratches (this is what filler does, hide the paint defect), and after few car washes the swirls and scratches will come back.

Regardz,

J Irwan
