Chip tuning

How many chips are known to be available for our cars? (besides Dinan)???

I wanted to find the options in Europe (Dinan's seemingly are not available through dealers in Europe, checked their web site).

Thanks!

Marcelo,

I'm sure the guys from Europe will be able to better answer your question, but I think they said that Kellener's was one of the better ones? Search our board for "chip" in the subject line and I am certain you will find what you are looking for? Nowack is also known to be a great M5 tuner.

Look at Superchip in the UK for all you Euros they have a quality and tested M5 chip. You must remember most/all chips will have more power, but it must be delivered in a nice controlled manner...very important.
The best power gain l found with Powerchip in Aussie land also combined with a BB Triflo exhaust was gobs of extra torque in the low revs....and l mean plenty more. The car felt 2 people lighter with the two combined together. This is real important in getting 1,800kg (4,000lbs) moving in the range from 1,500rpm to 2,500rpm. There was also a great push in the 5,000rpm to 7,000rpm range as well if you feel like giving it a rip.

Im here to back Apples up. Im a witness of Powerchip Australia's prowess. The horsepower addition along with torque may not be large due to M5's 400hp, but the real thing happening is that the throttle response is soooo sharp

Thank you all you guys! Checked most of them now (can't find Nowacks though).

Seems Superchip is the only one available in Spain. Kelleners needs the car brought to their place in germany (or some associated garage), so it is out of reach.

Will keep searching!

Hi Adam, thanks for the post.

Yeah, sounds attractive, but too damn far from the northwesternmost Spain...
I usually drop the horses on a strech of HGWY in Portugal, nice and smooth road, but haven't floored the beast yet though, getting used to the handling and feeling (only reached 260 in 5th, speedo readout, don't even know if it was for real...)

I moved to Spain from Denmark in 1995, and through the years I've got to know well the Deutsche AutoBahn...amazing how freely you could run 10-12 years ago...then all the Trabbies came on the road, and it was a pain in the neck. grrr

Doing 200+ kmh on the left lane and have a Trabant switching lanes at 95 kmh to pass a truck or bus wasn't fun.
Worst part is that I once was pulled over by the police (with lights and the lot) because a mad Trabby driver had reported me for honking and flashing headlights (and fist up, of course) while I was approaching at 240-250 kmh on my 535 e-34 (chipped) while he was high speed cruising (??) ...costed me 400 DM deposit to let me go back to Denmark, but guess what? I've got refunded 375 DM after trial (in abscence) because of no proof. Amazing country Germany it is!

As for chipping, I just found out that Superchip has a dealer in Madrid, that again has a garage upgrading ECU's via internet close to my location (120 km), they will upgrade my M5 and remove the v-max (so they state, I've written to Superchip UK to certify this) for 500$ (557 Euros).

Can't understand why Nowack's asking 2,034 Euros (1,810 $) for the same upgrade???
Will wait for Superchip's response before upgrade. Will keep you posted!
