Folks,
For those of you who (like me) have been waiting for a good solution to have MP3 available in the M5, here is the latest update from the guy at Phatnoise. For those of you who have not been following the old thread on this?, the "Phatbox" is a device which replaces the 6 CD changer and provides for MP3 music using the existing headunit functions. The 6 CD track selector buttons are remapped to provide different functions like playlists, artist names, music genres, etc...
Here is the email I just received from the guy at Phatnoise concerning this product. I have been on their beta waiting list for a few months...

Hi Andy,
Thought I would give an update on BMW's DSP systems with the PhatBox. There is a solution that works quite well. It uses an external ADC, with power controlled directly by the PhatBox. Very clean, no noise. The cost should be <$100.
We are now looking at the best ways of making this available. Thanks for your patience, and hang tight there with bmwm5.com !
Regards,
Dan
