The steering wheel and airbag came from Tisher BMW...

Yeah, it was a chunk of money, but selling the old steering wheel/airbag helped a bit

Well worth the money though.

Did you eBay the old air bag and steering wheel? If that's the case, what is your selling or "Buy It Now" price? Because I am thinking of doing the very same thing. I personally don't like the 2000 M5 or pre-2003 540i Sport steering wheels.

$845 total. The old steering wheel looks really outdated in comparison to the new one after seeing them side by side.

I sold the wheel on the forum, but ebay would get more non-M5 owners to see it. I think $350 is a fair price to ask for the wheel and airbag.

Tried again today. I managed to fit a new shifting arm-the long alloy one- but could not figure out how to remove the shifting bush from the car, anyone changed this bush?(item 14)

Wane.
You just need to rotate it clockwise and it should pop out.

Thanks, had to leave that bush in.
Finally fitted the lever this morning by removing the shifting arm and bending it to miss the prop dough nut. Shifting requires a little more effort but is well worth the bruised knuckles.

Glad to hear you finally got it all done. It will require "less" effort as time goes on from normal wear.
