I'm looking to purchase and have had one tow bar company tell me the bar is not available but BMW will sell me one (detachable ) so I guess its ok to pull with one of these cars. BMW does sell a kit but it's rather expensive, think £1000 or so. What are you planning to tow? If very heavy I would probably not advise, given the somewhat marginal clutch (fine for normal driving though, I have 100.000+ km on mine)

Cheers Rassi, The tow bar and electrical pack from BMW is £607 inc vat so not too bad. I'm towing a medium sized Caravan apprx' 10 times a year. I towed with my M5 Touring b4 and never had a problem with the clutch...fingers crossed though if I buy her..Shes a 78,000 mile W plate (2000) model in Silverstone Blue with Black leather etc etc.

why would you want to take a u haul on vacation? Why would i want to tow a small trailer with track tires behind something like that? It would be fun to drive a uhaul around laguna seca once, but just once. I'd rather take the m5.
