lolwtf CD changer
Hey guys:
I'm looking at an 01, and this is the "CD changer". Any idea what it is? There seems to be a RCA cable hanging down, but no CD changer present. I also couldn't see any iPod connector.
Thanks!

Maybe they used an AUX cable running somewhere? Hell thats what I'd do before getting an ipod. Yuck.

Maybe. I'm more concerned if I can just drop a CD changer in or would I need to replace something bigger?
Thanks!

I wish I could be possitive on this, but I think that the changer gets connected to the radio. If there's no changer, then there should be available connections in the radio somewhere. Unless, of course, they are running some sort of aux module (if not DICE or something like that) somewhere.
Can't you ask the current owner of the car?

It's a dealer auction car, and they have no real clue . I'm getting it PPIed, but we'll see how it does .

try to get the part numbers of what you see there, then you will know what's what. Necessary components for OE are radio, DSP amp and CD changer. There is always aftermarket..........

Thanks mang. I know for a fact the radio works (checked it out in the car), and it seems to have the amp (DSP menu is present on the LCD). I'm guessing it's missing the changer.
I'll look at the part numbers. Hopefully BMS can help .

Hey JizJizJiz
For the OEM CD changer you need these two connections, one is a six pin plug (but with my non DSP MY01) only has 3 wires in it. It should come from pin 2, 8 & 9 (2nd paragraph in this link) http://www.x5world.com/articles/x5/s...formation.html
The other is the 3 pin power, If you buy a DICE IPOD kit then it comes with the female ends to these two plugs and replaces the CD changer.
Hope that Helps a little

Zack,
I may be mistaken, but I believe you will be looking for a round wire (digital coax cable to connect the CD to the amp) and a small square plug w/ 3 pins (power, ground, remote turnon).
Radio is the squar-ish silver box. Amp is the black thing with fins at the back of your pictures.
What is it that you want identified? I don't see anything unusual in the pictures except the lack of cd changer...

Zack,
Be happy, you got more there than I did on mine in regards to the radio/ nav system. Mine was minus the amp, cd changer and nav system.
