Attended the SF Auto Show on Friday.
The Russell school guys were there promoting the new SPIR karting facility and their arrive-and-drive karting programs. They're cranking up in March.
In preparation for spring, I've created a new Bay Area M-Karters mailing list to discuss SPIR and other karting opportunities. Click

As for the rest of the show...I spent a whole lot of time photographing really bad detail design on GM products. So many of their recent designs just look like no one really cared about doing the job right from end to end.
The BMW exhibit was a little small, wasn't too lavish (no M5s, a Z8 on a turntable, coupe and convertible M3s, an X5 4.6is, one 530i and a scattering of 3s, no M5, no M Roadster, no 7s either old or new) but was very, very busy.
Several new Jag X-Types on display, interior's a whole lot nicer than the S-Type, pretty much matches BMW for material quality and fit. No S-Type Rs on display yet. Audi had a sweet S6 Avant out there, and the usual assortment of other models, new A4 has a lot more back-seat room than the old A4, no new S4 for a couple years. There was a tricked-out RS4 at the Griffin Motorsports booth, but was buttoned up. A few interesting Benzes. Saab put the more-supportive Viggen seats in the 9-5 Aero, finally.
The new Cadillac CTS (their new 5-series-size car) is a piece of...well, it's the folded and stapled shipping carton for a piece of...you get the idea. They've apparently decided that people want their sedans to look like SUVs, the result is a tall hood and beltline and a little greenhouse, and a nose that only an Electro-Motive Division locomotive designer could love. The interior...well, maybe Chris Bangle might approve.
