hmm,

sorry guys if i am not following this correctly, buttt, can MY2000's have this upgrade done? Is there a certain base software revision we need to be on before we upgrade? And has anybody with MY2000 done this yet? If so i would do this in a sec (once i got my hands on it ). The stationary pointer feature is in my benz, and i gotta tell you that it is a much better way of working the nav because then you are not always refreshing the screen, which is very annoying and takes super long for us to do.

i believe this only works with the widescreen navigation..
so that means, no it won't work with MY2000.
So who has this software??
i want it as well.

Here's a screen shot of the new software installed on a 1997 E39. So it will work on the small NAV screen.

Now, if someone could send me a PM with instructions on how I can acquire a copy of the required files, I would be eternally grateful. (Or at least grateful until OS v19 comes out!)

yeah i just saw that pic on the bimmer.org board.
i guess it does work, but the graphics would be rather small.
Does anyone have the cd upgrade available?
Does any dealers have this yet?

I just upgraded my NAV system. I'm very happy.

The "SET" menu option has a selectable full-screen/split-screen mode, so the 1997 E39 pictured above has a choice of either display format. The upgrade does not force you to use the split screen mode.

Someone mentioned that the response to inputs gets faster over a 3-day period. I hope so, because it seemed very slow at first. It did seem to get better in the 15 minutes I played with it. We'll see what happens over the next few days.

NAV Update

Amfung,

Hey, I'm in Studio City, (near Universal Studios), and I'd love to get together with some other L.A-based M5'ers to update. PM me with a phone number and let's arrange something, maybe this weekend or early next week?

Now if I could IR my palm pilot address book into the Nav system !!!
