What color trim kit for Caramel Interior?

So I want to change out the wood trim in my beast for something a little more sporty. I have seen pics of caramel with the aluminum trim and it looked ok. I'm leaning towards the high polished black trim or maybe carbon fiber. Anyone have any pics of either combo. I searched but came up empty.

I'm also going to switch to black floor mats and leather shift knob/e-brake handle.

        Thanks,

        Brian

I was just debating that today with Thaichi808 i also have caramel interior and would opt for the polished black or CF...i think either way is good and totally dependent on what theme or mods you have...I will probably do this in a few months...

If I go the CF route, I might to try to do the overlays myself. Tap Plastics and Fiberglast both sell the real CF fabric and epoxy resin. I will DEFINITELY get some old cheap trim pieces to practice on first.

That was the first thing I did when I bought my car. The caramel ones show way too many stains. The dealer told me they don't even make the caramel floor mats anymore (which was fine as I wanted black).

        Good Ideas

My vote would be for the jet black/piano black since your M5 is jet black. That would look clean, mean, and classy all at the same time, and match your exterior. You could simply take your trim out and have a trusted body shop paint your trim jet black...or find a used set of trim cheap somewhere and have that painted and keep your wood trim as backup if desired.

My buddy Chris (Vason) bought my extra set of interior trim a while back and had it painted carbon black to match his exterior...he had the wood trim with caramel interior also like you...maybe he will chime in and post some photos, it turned out great...very custom looking but not over the top...very clean.

Yeah, I guess that would be a good option too. I wonder how much it would cost to get the trim painted? Certainly less than a new trim kit ($495), right?

Yeah, that was the thread I was referencing when I said I saw the aluminum trim pics already. It looks good, but something is just off too me. Silver colored trim looks good on gray and black interior cars to me, but doesn't flow quite as well on the caramel black. But hey, thats just one guy's opinion!

Here's the link to the pics of my trim I had custom painted carbon black. It looks much better imo than the wood trim and gives the interior a more sporty feel. In your case I would paint them jet black to match your outside...that would look great. If I remember right it cost me around $300 to have all the pieces painted and with a clear coat.

I've also, since the pics in the link below, switched to black floormats as well.

Opinions on Carbon Black interior trim?

I would suggest a look at Poplar Natural Wood trim, its on the pricey side but i think it matches nice...But if its contrast/sporty you are looking for...piano black all the way...check out the individual configurator for the 7 series on bmw's world site, they have alot of choices to help visualize..

Vason, Thanks...thats what I was looking for. I'll think I'm going to go that route!

M5boy, I appreciate the suggestion...but wood trim is for my father! ;-P
