Le Mans blue owner, please come in

My 2001 Le Mans Blue exterior/interior is coming. I'll have to pick it up myself at Tacoma, Washington seaport, and drive it back instantly to Oregon. Production date is week of Nov 6 2000. If everything goes well, I should get it between this year's Christmas and New Year. What a way to celebrate the holiday!!

It was hard for me to decide color. I've always liked blue, but my current 540i is montreal blue. I thought about carbon black, but not easy keeper, so changed to royal red, but then I saw pictures of Le Mans from this messageboard, so I was convinced.

Just out of curiosity, how many Le Mans blue owners out there?

And I'm planning to install B&B Triflo exhaust.

I have not seen a Lemans blue in person, but from the many pictures I did see, I can say the blue M5 picture posted on this board earlier is NOT Lemans..

Lemans is much darker and need lots of sun shine to see its "metallic sheen"... in the shade it look "dark blue"...

I have a Le Mans Blue 2000 M5. At first, I was hesitant about the color since I thought Silver looked best on the M5. But, I have received so many compliments on the color, and I have come to really like it.

Muditha,
How different is Le Mans with Avus blue? I've been hearing people say Le Mans is very sharp blue. Le Mans has purplish tinge, and with clear coat, it looks better as it shows the blue. On the other hand, someone said it's darker than Avus, so takes more sun to reflect the blue.
I've seen both color pallette at a dealership. Confirmed, Le Mans is darker.
Now, how does Le mans compared with Montreal Blue, 'cause that's the color of my current 540i so I want to know that both colors differ noticeably.

I have a '01 Lemans/Lemans that will arrive in South Carolina today. I wanted to try a sporty color, and Imola red was just...well too red for me. My other strong consideration was Jet black, but I've been driving a black/black car for 4 years and want something different.

I have a carbon black exterior with the LeMans Blue/Black interior, and the brushed metal titanium trim.

You are right, to keep the carbon black looking good the car has to be clean. No different than Jet Black color. I have it cleaned on average once a week. Looks awsome when it is clean.

The interior is very "techno" and sporty with the two colors, blue seat inserts and door panels with black elsewhere. It is the brushed metal trim that gives it that "tech" look. I did not pick these options, however, when I saw it I had to have it.

I get compliments on the car and colors all the time.

Enjoy your new toy when it comes.

Avus Blue is now discontinued and replaced by LeMans Blue. I feel that Avus Blue was not a good seller as it was too bright (this put me off) and too similar to the hideous Estoril Blue of the old M3. LeMans blue is definitely darker and should prove very popular. A much better colour overall.

m5monster:

I can answer your question better than most people because I had an Avus Blue 95 M3. I parked the M3 next to my Le Mans Blue M5 for a couple of weeks until I sold the M3.

The colors are very close to each other. LeMans blue is a little darker with a pinch of purple in it. It does look better than Avus Blue.

As for a comparson with Montreal Blue, I can't help you because I do not know the exact shade of Montreal Blue.

You should think of Le Mans Blue as a slightly darker, richer, sharper blue when compared to Avus Blue. In other words, if you like Avus Blue, you'll like Le Mans Blue better, especially on the M5.
