VP Racing Fuels; C10 vs Mtrsprt 103?

Hey smart guys and car freaks alike, about to order some racing fuel so we Atlanta freaks can see what the diff is. Does anyone have experience with these fuels and specifically C10 vs Motorsport 103? Please check out www.vpracingmacon.com or any other vpracing site.
Greg, I hope we get your input since you were the knowledgable one to let me know not to use octane boosters.
Thanks! Murphfreak

I bet Steve Dinan may be able to offer some insight...

...since he was attributed as saying that race fuel is the most sure-fire way to increase BHP in the S62 (M5/Z8) motor.

As I look at VP's site, I'm thinking the C-10, barring any detrimental side effects, would be preferable to the M'sports 103. Either one seems like a winner to me! Sign me up!!

Heck, let's skip this sissy unleaded stuff and jump straight to Nitromethane. You willing to store that in your warehouse?!

Yeah Dave I will store it, but keep in mind if we get a 50 gallon drum and any of the other psycho sled owners wanna fill up it won't last long. Guess I will have to set up an account and have a monthly delivery, ah shucks. Of course, I will ask for a deal on the fuel. Gotto go, will check in later, Murph

I don't know what the upper limit is in terms of octane levels continuing to improve performance. I think 100 is probably more than sufficient - 98 is probably enough (this is a wild assed guess based upon nothing more than my intuition )

Just be sure it is unleaded! Many racing fuels are not. One tank of leaded and you've bought yourself new catalytic converters.

Both are unleaded...

Both the C-10 and the Motorsports 103 are of the unleaded variety. Here's an excerpt from the VP Fuels site:

C10®:
C10 is the best unleaded racing gasoline available. It meets ASTM D-439 standard specifications for automotive gasoline and is legal for use on the streets. C10 does not contain any metal compounds and will not harm catalytic converters or oxygen sensors. C10 has been used by the national champions in SCCA and IMSA stock classes.
Color: Clear / Unleaded / Specific gravity: .760 at 60°F / Motor Octane: 96 / Research Octane: 104 / R+M by 2: 100.

Motorsport 103®:
Motorsport 103 is VP's name for its street legal gasoline, designed for maximum power and throttle response. Motorsport 103 is an unleaded fuel of high octane that provides the power and protection equal to some racing fuels. Meets California RFG Requirements.
Color: Clear / Unleaded / Specific gravity: .728 at 60°F / Research octane: 107 / Motor octane: 99 / R+M/2=103 / Recommended for: High performance street cars, boats, snowmobiles, personal water craft, motorcycles and high performance import cars.

Any other insights?
TIA-
-Dave

fuel

From my experience here in South Africa, get the one designed for the street. Pure race gas is usually designed for long running at high RPM, so it has poor throttle response, the 103 seems to say it is designed for good throttle response, which if what you want for normal driving.

U guys should check out the latest issue of HOT ROD.

They dyno'd a 10:1+ compression V8 with various types of fuel from unleaded 87 to 114 race.

The 114 race made the most power but needed less timing to make better hp! The concluded that the 114 had a better "blend" and needed less timing to make power!

The difference between 87 and 114 was about 10-15hp on a 390-400ish hp motor.

For those who aren't aware that more octane doesn't necessarily equate to higher performance:

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse by posting to a 12 year old post, but here goes: Can anybody give their results/experience of running C10 vs. VP100 (Street Blaze) vs. Motorsport 109? I don't see that VP makes 103 anymore, at least from their current website.
