VIR has two straights where you brake from 140+mph and several from 90+mph and neither he or I have ever experienced any fade from them on the track.
R-compounds (NT-01) and the Stoptechs with PFC-01 pads are simply amazing on the VIR straights, aren't they? Compared to the stock brakes with HT-10 race pads, the Stoptechs feel invincible don't they? Unreal. I love these things, and the M5 desperately needs them for track work. It really does feel like you could suck out eyeballs. Anyone who rides with me can't get over it. Years ago before I had them, I rode with Redshift at VIR (Stoptechs, PFC01, RA1) and was immediately sold.

Hi Guys, Black Magic a few years back ('02) had the AP's installed by Birds, Uxbridge and was happy. Greetings to him if he is still around.
In UK AP's will cost around £2,100 fitted (fronts only) lead time 8 - 11 weeks ! (6 calliper, big MF) Stoptech, fronts and rears, slotted, zinc £3,200 fitted (3 - 4 week lead time) Brembos fronts and rears £6,250 fitted - too expensive for me so didn't ask about lead times. Movit didn't bother to quote. The kits are all different spec so I realise I'm not comparing like with like - it's a question of preference. My local dealer a) will not fit any BBK for safety & quality ! reasons and b) has quoted £1,060 to replace all corroded discs and all pads - 2 day lead time. The thing I'm still not clear on is whether ABS and DFC work when the BBK's are installed. I doubt that I would get confirmation in writing. Hope this is helpful and that I don't sound like a killjoy ! It's make my mind up time and as the old saying goes ' I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure' !
Thanks to all for your time taken to respond. Kind regards, Nik

The ABS/DSC sensors work off the wheel bearing and hub assemblies so changing the brakes doesn't affect them. HOWEVER, if you have an unbalanced setup (see the Stoptech website and read about brake balance front to rear) after the install, you'll have serious problems with heavy braking on turns and you might have DSC/ABS issues.

I have Stoptech fronts with stock rears, and I've done hundreds (literally) of max-braking-on-turn exercises with street pads, racing pads and a mix of both, and the ABS/DSC system performs perfectly.

Agree on both counts. I have stoptech ST40s on front and they are fine.

(I really "need" a rear set as I hate the unmatched look)

I am also wondering what the dealer is claim about 'corroded' sics and pads.... sounds like BS to me, figures he's got someone worried and they'll pop for a pretty pound. Brakes wear out, they don't corrode!

You will most likely never get anything in 'writing' that says AND non-OE part will never affect the ABS or DSC. (Unless you print this thread! )

Hi Guys,
I booked my car in to Thorney Motorsport in Milton Keynes for installation of AP Racing's front kit. They have a few sets in stock. The owner, John Thorne is a racing enthusiast and got me thinking about a Milltek back end exhaust. Tried to dig out Ashok's installation thread from a few years back but couldn't find it. Could you help please Ashok ? I will update the board on what I think of the brakes once installed and tried out.
Keep well. Nik
