in the grand scheme of the universe, i had my oil changed today getting ready to go to iraq... $135 for oil/filter with mobil1 5/30. which was neat, i felt pretty good about it.
but when i went to swap out the MAFs that i bought a month ago, apparently someone posted the incorrect bosch part number, which i grabbed, and i ordered the wrong size MAFs. nuts!!! so that's $230 that i'm out seeing as the vendor won't take them back since they are "electronic parts."
anyone need some slightly smaller VW MAFs???

what is the part # that you have? What is smaller MAF body or sensor itself?
Robert,
If you buy the VW MAFs you are supposed to use a torx bit and remove only the sensor itself. Then you unplug the MAF sensors from the harness in the m5, remove the m5 MAF tubes, and swap only the sensor pieces making sure you orient the sensor in the right direction.
You don't use the VW tubes at all.
Hope that helps. But also post the part # you have (bosch) as azaytsev wrote to make sure you have the right p/n, people on this board can tell ya!
Edit: you don't even need to remove the m5 tubes technically, I just did it to get a better look @ them and clean the gaskets between the tubes and rest of intake.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS: Make Helmet-liners to Keep Our Troops Warm
GHerardini: I wish you the best of luck, and wanted to give you my (and my whole families) heartfelt thanks for serving our country. Several of my friends also serve and I know first-hand the toll being overseas takes on not only you but also your family.
To the rest of you: My wife recently came across a website http://www.geocities.com/helmetliner/ requesting that people who know how to crochet, knit, or sew help keep our troops warm by making helmetliners for them. Since she knows how and we both greatly appreciate the personal sacrifice GHerardini and others make, she is intending to make several. I encourage each of you to pass the website along to anyone you know who may be able to help - it is only through the sacrifice of others that we are able to enjoy many of the liberties and freedoms that we do.
