Engine Sound

Hey all,

As time passes, I begin to pay attention to different things on the car. The sound of this, the look of that, the feel of that, etc. Being that this is a car in a completely different category than what I'm used to, some things appear weird and, because of that, I don't know whether it's normal or not.

One of these things happen to be the way the engine sounds. It sounds extremely good, but if I pop the hood open and leave the engine uncovered, the sound reminds me a lot to that of a diesel. Not so much when the hood is closed, though. I dont have a good M5 to compare mine to, so I'm a bit lost when it comes to things since I dont have a base for comparison.

Is this normal, or should I have the car taken to an indy shop for a look?

Thanks for your advice, as I've become spoiled by the quality and speed of help in this board

Yes, I believe that's normal. I noticed the same thing and I attribute it to being a smooth-running-german-engineered-car... this is the first German car I have owned

Generally when someone says "They all do that" they are trying to get you off their back.

But in this case, they really do in fact all do that...

Hehe, thanks. This is an old thread, though. Someone had the same question and revived it.
