vendor warning for Toronto Owners

I have a warning for anybody looking to buy tires in Toronto.

I went and bought 4 Falken 452 from STEVE'S TIRES in Vaughn.

While installing them he scratched all four rims......I did my pre purchase info gathering and heard that he does good work, and has fair prices.....WELL only HALF of that is true.......price was good but INSTALL SUCKED....

When I confronted him about this and showed him the fruits of his labour he denied it and said that the rims were liked that when he took them of my car...

now I am no different than any of you I had wash my car often , and I know every little imperfection with the car...The rims had none and now are scratched...

ONCE AGAIN WARN EVERYONE YOU KNOW ....DO NOT GO AND PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM STEVE' S TIRE in VAUGHN located on HIGHWAY 7

Anyone know where I can take the rims to be refinished???

Sad/Mad

Tough call ... same kinda deal, many say they can refinish and their work varies all over the "planet." Four wheels is actually easier than one ... with one, it will never match the others!

Been there, done that ...

Now that I think about it, if you just need to have "rim rash" fixed, there are guys that can do a credible job. Do a search to find them here.

I had the exact same thing happen to me at Tire World in Brampton. I brought them 4 perfect rims and 3 came back fine and the forth was gouged about 8 inches around the rim. They pulled the same thing with me saying it was there when i brought it. They pulled out the installed and he lied to my face... well... not really, he couldn't even look me in the eyes when he lied to me and told me it was like that when he got it.

So now i don't mess around with these guys, i just take pics on my camera and have someone do an inspection before hand.

You should escalate it up to the owner. When it happened to me the owner of the shop offer to pay for half of the refinishing which is said was BS but it was a take it or leave it offer.

If you want, Wheel-Fix-It will pick up your tires and wheels in the GTA and fix it and remount the tires.

Around $200 / wheel.

Ask for Teresa (aka Big T)....tell her T-Bone sent you.

I feel your pain... When I took my car the the dealer, they decided to wash it for me. The detailer used some sort of acid on the wheels and when I got the car back, half the paint on the wheels was gone !

The dealership took care of it. They said there was no way to properly repaint the wheels and gave me 4 new rims. I think getting the shadow chrome finish right is very difficult. I'd push to have them replace the wheels. Their insurance should cover it.

Hi Bob,
Sorry to hear about the poor tire install. I would be pissed too

You are right about knowing all of the imperfections of the car (if any at all). I'm the same way.

I just had my spare tire refinished at Carcone (Bloomington & Leslie) 905.773.5778 (ask for Ron).

They did a great job however I must say the price is a bit steep ($250 per tire (or something like that)). I guess you have to pay for good work. They even mounted and balanced the tires without an issue.

I know it's a bit late now but if you ever need new tires again call Lou at Nantucket tire 416.288.9399 He does great work. I have trusted Lou for the past 10 years with all of my Bimmers.

Good luck with the refinishing.

John
