It's a fake.

Check out the bumpers... or are there US M5's with regulair bumpers ??......

See the rear bumper (without the parkpilot and the nice wheels) that's a M5 bumper.

Well what could be right:
the rims are big enough aftermarket to fit stock brakes
Steering wheel looks like aftermarket
Exhaust looks like aftermarket
Rear rear view mirrors(Depending on year)
Front drivers seat looks like the sports but hard to tell in picture
Height looks correct but difficult to tell from distance and angle of pic

What is right:
Rear license plate holder is M5 style

What is wrong:
Rear bumper
Side marker by front fender- I think, later models may be there but then it wouldn't match the rear view mirrors as that is on early model M5 only.
Rear seat doesn't have head rests
Side skirts look wrong
Location of M5 badge

Anyway the easiest way to verify if this is a real E34 M5 is to just walk up and see the VIN#, if it starts with WBSHD then it's a M car.

Some things that would be a "plus" for it being real...Gauges have red needles-small ///M logo in cluster, of course a manual tranny, deletion of "bread box" in rear seat, ///M door sill trim.

Not yet. This isn't a neighbor I run into a lot so it could be a while specially with the time change as I usually run into him while my kids are outside playing after dinner but now it will be dark.

1) The rear Bumper is wrong... ( could mean it was rear ended at some time and replaced with another )

2) Side skirts are wrong ( The M5's side skirts didnt curve )

3) Those arent M5 seats... ( the M5 seats had a distinctive bolster that went a little bit up the side of the headrests)

4) The rear seats should have headrests but Ive seen some that dont... But look at the 3rd brake light? M5's didnt come with 3rd brake lights

5) the Front spoiler isnt there...

All this Is way to many missing things to make it an M5 unless it was in a very bad wreck and it was pieced together using regular e34 parts...

For sure way is the EDC button on the dash...electronic shocks, M5 was only e34 with that button. Its on the dash by the steering wheel.

no US spec m5's had this, it was availale on the later 3.8 models that we didn't get here. (though it may have been optional on the last of the line 540 sport, the car that was like the M540 in canada (canada did get the edc))

My e34 m5 has a third brake light, as has every US spec e34 i've seen.

doesn't look like the real deal to me either, check the vin, or pop the hood.

Its definitely an ///Mpostor!

There is nothing wrong with a car that doesn't happen to be an M (EXCEPT the 318ti, What a POS), just playing like one is.

What you need to do is sometime during the night, run over with some dental floss and do him a favor. Remove it!

My uncle has an e34 with the same thing. Atleast he knew what side the emblem goes on!

The badge came off!

I was just looking outside and the badge came off. Guess he either realized its not an M5 or knew it was and decided to debadge it.
