Here are a few pics of the MAFs I purchased from Ebay. Bosch on the left in the pics. I got them from seller E-Europarts. I am having the same issues as in the post here>>>> http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=106043. ei.. stalling,and rough idle. My car has even shut off twice while parking. I've also thrown a few codes such as;
P0101 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem,
P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2)
P0175 System Too Rich (Bank 2)
I wouldn't suggest purchasing this part from Ebay.:nono: Especially if it may cause your motor to not get enough fuel. How do you know if these MAF are even right for the E39 M5 with no labels???hmmm They may look the same but, Bosch... I think not.

Hmm, those definitely look suspect. I would suggest getting them from the company I bought mine from or someone else who got them from a reputable source. Sorry to hear you got screwed...can you return them? I'm betting a no return policy on electrical parts. Find the thread called cheap VW MAFs. You'll be able to find the guys I got mine from on there.

I emailed him and he said he has never had any problems with the MAF for BMW. He said I can return them though.

Good to hear. Hopefully you still have your original parts to put back on. I'd recommend pull them off your car yesterday and not running them a second longer.

Here are a few pics of the MAFs I purchased from Ebay....

..love to see a pic of down INSIDE the opening of the actual sensor area.

...macro feature on your camera?

I had a set once which gave me the same problems, when I looked down inside the opening at the sensor, I saw a completely different construction than the Bosch models.

as mentioned in the other thread, IMHO I'd only run the BOSCH -032's...

I would just feel uneasy buying suspect MAFs on Ebay. When it comes to something as important as the MAFs, I would spend the extra cash for something I know is Bosch. $345 or so for Bosch MAF's in my mind is worth it.....no headaches involved and your M5 will perform better. cherrsagai

I guess I'm out of $160 however, maybe it will save somebody from spending $20,000 on a motor. I decided to take the sensor apart and OMG!!!!:eek:oohhh: Look at this!!!! Bosch is the one with the circuit board of course.

wow... makes you wonder with parts these days...

The KEY thing I noticed when I bought a "look alike crap part" was that the real sensor part was completely different, and easy to miss if you didn't look...

So look at my attached picture (sorry -400k), its an OEM MAF... ...ZOOM in on the pic -to the opening... down inside is a small metal bar (may only be there to protect the sensor) the sensor is just behind it.

On the crap model, there was only a folded piece of aluminum instead of the material you see on the OEM... :grrrrr:
