        A fuelish idea...

If there is a forum member out there with the ability/kazatzkies that could make this happen, I think I have a winner.
Look, we all look for the best place to get the good petro right, 94+, you find it here and you find it there, but for those of us who travel around a bit, its a pain in the a** to know which gas stations are going to have it. A big oil co. like Shell should offer 94+ at all stations and offer a gas/credit card to all luxury/premium car owners at say a 2-3% rebate where you accrue points to your account. dadada...lots of points based reward programs out there already. If I always knew that Shell or whoever had the good stuff, I would only fill up there...and I would probably buy my red bulls and pistachios there too.
Pretty good demographic for them I would think.

Most gas stations here in the states offer 93 octanes as their best. I think them offering higher octane fuel for enthusiasts (because clearly....who else would bother with higher octanes when 93 is everywhere?) on every single gas station would be too costly for the return that it would provide.

Now, I'm no expert, but if I'd be shell.....I wouldnt do it. Maybe have a select stations in strategic points offering this, but not everywhere.

Unless, of course, I completely misunderstood the point that you were trying to make

The idea being to drive business through the card and captivate the "affluent" segment. That and in store sales which is where the margin is for gas stns.

I have a shell mc I use exclusively for shell gas which is the only gasoline I use in my cars. I get 5% back and pay off my credit card every month. I seldom go to their market as I really don't need anything.

Sunoco in Canada has a reward system they use that actually encourages Ultra 94 use..(the margins on it are terrific)..Unfortunately they are only a regional marketer in Canada (basically Ontario)..but they do own a refinery/ distribution network out of Colorado now...Hmmmmm

I would prefer to go way back to the 60s ... because:

        1. I would be younger
        2. I would be single
        3. No cats to go bad and leaded fuel available everywhere
        4. Chevron sold 101 octane gas in California at every station
        5. Highways were excellent
        6. No Radar

but, no M5s ... tough trade off.

Sure an M5 runs on leaded gas, it just destroys the cats. Then, all those slow pokes behind you can breathe the rotten eggs.
