        Sirius radio

Anyone have any new info on the status of Sirius radio?

When will BMW begin offering it?
Will there be a software/hardware upgrade to our systems or will it require a whole new receiver?

A close friend just had XM radio installed in his Mercedes. VERY COOL!! I hope we have this option without having to rip out the current receiver. No matter what happens we will have to go through BMW because of all the integrated electronics with the stereo/phone/VR.

        Chris

Sirius has indeed signed an agreement with BMW NA -- we are looking at 2nd Quarter of 02, I believe....I can't wait either, it will be well worth it!

        Andy,

I'ver heard rumors (perhaps on this board, I'm not sure) that some variety of upgrade will be available. If you read the info at Sirius' web site, it sounds like some sort of adapter will be available. I doubt that would be good enough for our cars, but perhaps since BMW has signed on with Sirius they will make internal hardware and software for our cars.

I'd be willing to bet this might piggy-back off the CD Changer interface....I think BMW has some decent expansion in that network of theirs in our cars

I think they realize that sound quality is going to need to be top notch, otherwise we won't buy the product
