Question on Dinan S package installation
I contemplating modifying my stock 2003 M5 by adding the Dinan S package. My care is a CPO and I have the maintenance package till 100K. If I have the installation done at a Dinan authorized dealer but not a BMW dealer, has anyone ran into trouble with service at a BMW dealer after the modifications? Please let me know your experience.

Out of curiosity, why would you not have the dealer do it? Have you had a bad experience with Brecht?
This is a better question for Dinan, then ask BMW NA.

I was planning to use All german Auto since they were running a 10% discount on parts and labor which is not offered at the BMW dealer.

i have had my dinan stuff either installed at dinan, or by myself, and have not had any issues with dealer warranty repairs.
Dinan, and i assume their dealers, tell bmw na what you have done, just in case a warranty claim comes up at a later date.
My car's history at the dealer list my dinan mods, and 'camshaft and internal engine work' followed by "no engine warranty", but my car was out of warranty when i did all of that stuff anyway...

lucky for you, All German Auto is one of the few shops in the country who can do full Dinan installations.
I believe I talked to Martin from AGA and him and 1 other shop in US has done full S/C from S3 package on an E39 M5
I would say, go for it. AGA will take care of you.
They have taken care of my M5 on couple occassions.

AGA did my complete S2 package while car was still on warranty. 'Never had a problem getting dealer warranty service. 'Key is taking it to a dealer that is also a Dinan dealer (like Brecht) when you have a need for BMW warranty service. Brecht won't care that you have Dinan mods on your car. And I can easily recommend you get your car serviced at AGA. 'Been doing business with Martin for 15 years. They are the very best. Period.

-In my experience it all depends on how the BMW dealer treats the existence of Dinan parts on your car. Crevier BMW refused to fix a power steering hose leak because I had Dinan parts on my car. I reminded them that they are a Dinan dealer (and would of course be reimbursed by Dinan). They told me that because they didn't install the Dinan parts that they would not treat the car under warranty. So I took it back to BMS (who did my S2 conversion) and they fixed it out-of-pocket. I don't know if they ever got reimbursed by Dinan, but at least they didn't leave me out in the cold like the other so-called Dinan dealer in my area.
When you go to AGA, get a reference from Martin for a BMW/Dinan dealer that won't cause you similar grief. Or, better yet, have Martin do the work under warranty. Most aftermarket (and some CPO) warranties can be exercised at ANY authorized BMW shop - NOT just dealers. Now that they are covered under aftermarket warranties, I take both our E39s to BMS for all repairs

you may be able to have your dealer match the pricing if you are worried...
FWIW I have heard nothing but good stuff about AGA and I live in Seattle! Something as simple as the S package i cannot imagine your dealer giving you a hard time...

That's because Joe at Crevier was an *** What you should have done is call Dinan's warranty dept and have them recommend another dealer that would be happy to replace the parts.
