Performance Upgrades
HELLO PEOPLE, I NEED SOME FEEDBACK ON UPGRADES FOR MY M5 . I WILL BE PICKING IT UP SOMETIME IN EARLY DECEMBER. I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP MY FACTORY WARRANTY, SO CAN U GUYS PLEASE MAKE SUGGESTIONS. IF YOU CAN ALSO TELL ME WHAT KIND OF HP AND TORQUE GAINS THE UPGRADES DO I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. I DO WANT TO CHANGE THE EXHAUST, BUT I DO NOT WANT IT TO SOUND TOO LOUD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INFO.

Hi Manny
I can help you. First you need to know what you want to change.
In my casein change the software form ECU (+30CV), change may air filters for K&N, and change my exhaust for the super sprint (only the rear piece). You can find in www.supersprint.it
I live in Brazil than I haven't here Dinan.O know that with Dinan change you don't loose warranty and the exhaust sound is very aggressive love more than my sound but it's a louder for me to drive allways, than I put super sprint.
You have different's tuning like:
Nowack: www.nowack-tuning.de
Racing Dynamics, Kelleners.
http://www.bmwm5.com/vbulletin/showt...t+sound+videos
We have a lot of videos with exhaust, surf in this messageboard and you will find.
http://y42.briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/l...rc=bc%26.view=l
Go to SEARCH icon in this messageboard and write Exhaust sound, then you choose your preference. You can search too the HID 6000K light upgrade,it's very good changing
P.S, here you can put all your questions and share with us all news...Welcome aboard.
Regards

Thank You for your response.
Does anyone know if its worth going with Dinan stuff?
How loud is the Dinan exhaust system, and does it make a difference in performance? Also is the Dinan intake system worth the money? I appreciate the feed back.
Delivery is in the second week of December. Le Mans blue

Manny,
Welcome to the board and congrats on getting the BEAST, when it arrives.
I have most of the Dinan goodies on my car except for the exhaust. Most folks who have the Dinan exhaust love it! However, it is a bit loud for my taste. I prefer a more subdued exhaust note, so I went with Supersprint. There is a thread from not too long ago here which has a pointer to go and listen to various cars with different aftermarket exhaust systems. I would also suggest you try to listen to some in person also. You will find that we are all very accomodating when it comes to sharing knowlege about our cars, and besides - we are just SHOW-OFFs anyway!
The Dinan Cold Air Intake looks really cool and sounds incredible, but don't expect major horsepower gains from it. I have it along with the Dinan Stage II software and it does however make the throttle response more crisp. And the software removes the top speed limiter and increases the revs a little to about 7250.
If you really want to feel some incredible gains, spend $3500.00 on the Dinan 3.45 differential. Man, does that provide a kick in the pants!! Just ask others who have done it. I did mine about 4 months ago and LOVE it! Additionally, I suggest doing the Dinan Stage III suspension. These two upgrades (while they are not cheap?? ) are the ones - IMHO - that provide the most noticable performance gains that you will immediately feel.
Good luck and keep us informed on your adventures into modding the BEAST!! You have come to the right place for information and to just plain have fun!!

I just did the Dinan Stage II plus adjustable camber plates (thanks, Andy!). This is an excellent modification if you feel the car is too soft (I did). I've also got the Supersprint exhaust, which look the best, are louder than stock, but are quieter than Dinan, Tubi, ACS etc. You should get the car and drive it for a while before making any changes. Most of all have fun and try and meet up with other owners. Good luck,
Jim

Fernando,
Juan and I not only work together at the same company, we are very close personal friends and of course - we share alot of the same passions in life, one of them being the love of exotic driving machines!!
Glad to hear you guys met and it sounds like you had some fun. Juan is a super person. I am proud to have him as a friend.

Hi Guys:
I am planning to modify my exhaust system and my ECU, which I have been told by the Hamann dealer in Dubai, will give me 40HP additional.
Please let me knwo what you think and also, if doing this will affect my warranty.
