Do headers change sound of car?

Just curious if headers change the sound/tone of the car (louder/deeper/more throaty) with an aftermarket set?

For anyone that has done them with aftermarket exhausts or even on an otherwise stock exhaust system.

Thank you

Can only add one data point.
I added SS headers, no other changes. I did have Hamann cans.

At idle car is a little throatier, but not really noticable. At WOT there is a defintie increase in noise, but not objectionble. What i notice most is more bass, almost as if I added a subwoofer to the exhuast system.

If you are worried about noise from just headers (at least SS brand), don't be concerrned.
Regards,
Jerry

Once again, I am with Jerry on this one...what ever your sound "preference"...the headers and exhaust actually allow you to hear your shift points... instead of "feeling" them (by bouncing off the rev limiter)

The increase in cabin noise is minimal...

Unlike the other responses after insatlling the SS headers, there was a big difference in the sound as well as the performance.

I love it, however it is objectionable to people on the street, esp if you have it floored.

I think it is such a touchy subject, since some people will be more sensative to the sound, etc, and every car responds to mods differently. It is weird, but that's just how cars work, and I have seen it happen many times.

Anyways, if you are looking at some sort of aftermarket set up for your car, let me know, and I can try to hook you up on something. We carry a lot of various and diff brands of exhausts for your car.
