what do you guys thinks:
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...eadExists=true

-i offered low 40s
-cpo until 5/09
-skeptical about carfax(no mileage reported after 1st sale, sold or bought back within a month of original purchase)
-haven't seen the service records yet
-(if anyone has suggestions on a different vehicle i'd really appreciate it.
.low miles 40k is on the high end{i'd like to put on some of the earlier miles myself}
.near ny
.color not too important
.cpo or not
.'a" dealership preferably
.03'
...(have go i'll add more later)

...WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?...the floor of the driver and passanger seat...is that diamond plate or some weird dealer mats?

at low 40k, it may be a good deal, but definitely not at 50k. lol. a clean 03 with similar mileage will go for 40-45k.

it also has dinan pedals and an aftermarket exhaust which were unlisted so i would be weary about abuse on this particular car. the interior is also in horrible condition. it looks years older than it is. take a look at the knob for instance. the lip on the rim shown looks repolished. i am not even familiar with the seats in the pic nor i have ever seen the like; my 03 m5 seats or my 01 e46 m3 didnt have seats like those with the lines in the inserts. i think they may be the euro seats.

heres a pic of US m5 seats:

by the car looks... older than its actual year. or it looks like a recovered stolen vehicle.

also listed:

"Emission Control Level California"

imt no sure if this is accurate or just a copied description but if it is, id also be weary if this car has been transferred over states lines several times especially from coast to coast. one way of concealing a defective title, rollback or bad records is to transfer titles through multiple states or multiple auctions.

those are luxury seats (i think thats what they're called)... you have sport seats. the luxury ones are normally in caramel, pretty rare in black.

thanks (both of you)

wentouch,...? those are the nappa leather seats...they are available on m5s all over the world, the look of the car is a 50/50 thing for me, there was an m5 in ny i was looking at and the front end (hood, bumper, and fenders) was resprayed and i got real worried it got into an accident that got handled privatley.(i'd rather drive home w/ a front end w/ rock chips rather than a resprayed front end w/ the swirl marks from a quicky polish)

...question? how do i go about getting the car ppi'd? does anyone know someone who can do a good inspection in ny, how do i go about getting it ppi'd when it's out of state?

I'm probably missing it, but 1) where did you see an aftermarket exhaust, and 2) what problems did you see with the seats?

see how the very edge of exhaust tips are rounded...stock exhaust is a thin straight pipe tips. also i think the floor is diamond plate.

...i dont think the nappa leather can be maintained as well as the sports leather. the little dimples and glossy look make the leather look more used

The exhaust looks similar to Super Sprint or actually maybe magnaflows since they don't appear to be offset.

Good catch on the exhaust pipes - I never would have noticed

As for the floor, my suspicion is that it is the bubble paper that dealers use to protect the carpet, but you should ask. I can't believe anyone would put in diamond plate.

As for nappa vs sport, I don't agree with your comment about maintainability, but that is just my opinion...

I am not sure how you based your judgement from these pic.

But from what I can tell the seat looks in very good condition (no crease visible from the pic, as well as the rear seat leather also still looking tight).

The shift knob also look fine too, perhaps there is a glare from the photograph that makes it a little blurry.

And as far as the wheels the car seems to have the original rims in the original finish (the center wheels and the lips seems to be in the same color and finish). The shadow chrome could looks very bright if it got hit by direct sunlight and it can also looks like a gunmetal color under shadow.

Regardz,

J Irwan
