DSP Settings? on M Audio, more

I am another one who just got a new M5 on Monday. I am trying to figure out the best way to set the DSP. Can you please tell me how you guys set your up? I have the M5 Audio option.

I have TiAg with the black sport interior and wood. Love it all - got all the options as well.

I saw in a previous post that there is a M5 on the floor Mat - mine does not have this in the sport interior. Did I get the wrong floor Mats?

A few other questions - I had a 2000 528. I used to be able to scroll through FM1 and FM2 preset radio stations using the steering wheel control up arrow. In the new 2002 M5, it only scrolls through 6 of the FM1 stations and thats it. I have to manually select FM2 to scroll through those 6 channels - is this correct or do I have some bad software?

Also - anyone figure out how to adjust the speed sensistive volume control? The CD ROM instructions tell you to hold in the tone button if I had a 540 type radio without Nav. to make this adjustment. There is nothing for my configuration.

In this new split screen set up, the manual shows a picture where I should be able to see the FM station names or call letters in the computer screen for all 6 Presets for FM1 for example. My screen is blank in this area as compared to the manual - what do you guys see??

Thanks - BK

Congratulations!! I also have theTiSilver with black interior, albeit with the metallic trim.

Let's see, based upon my memory:

I don't think the car comes standard with floor mats, though I believe a lot of people had the dealers throw them in as extra freebies. I ordered a nice pair, with the logos, from an outside source.

The up and down arrows on my M5 scrolls through the preset stations on FM1-- come to think of it, I don't use it a lot, and am not aware if it cycles through FM2 two as well.

The screen displays the call letters or a blurb (e.g., "L.A. Country") only for some stations-- apparently, the station has to broadcast this information or something for this to display. Otherwise, the screen displays the station frequency(e.g., "95.5").

Hope this helps.

If you do a search on this board, you'll find a thread where one of our members got some audio equipment and actually measured and adjusted the settings until he got a flat response. Congrats on getting your car.

I just picked mine up and it had M5 logo mats in it. I didn't even ask for them I thought they were standard. You would think in a car of this price and caliber they would be standard. Like the freakin NAV system. It seems ridiculous that they would not be standard items.

In the manual there is a way you can adjust the way those steering wheel buttons work. Seek Scan or scroll through stations.

Silverstone Sport Interior and Aluminum Trim.

I will attach a picture that you can clearly see the m5 logo on the passenger floorboard mat. Not the best picture. If it doesn't show then here is the link

wondering the same things...

BK:

I have the exact same questions so I was wondering whether you discovered more answers or got offline replies that go beyond what's in the thread here??

Data I have for your questions:

I have the sport interior. It came stock with carpet mats that have the logo but the rubber ones that I got from the dealer are the generic BMW 5 series ones so they don't have the logo. My friend has third party rubber mats that do have the logo but apparently they needed a little surgery to make them fit.

Steering wheel arrows cycle radio channels only for currently selected band (FM[12A] or AM[12A]). I was looking for an answer as to why you can't switch bands too which is how I found your post!

My screen is also blank where the manual shows the six station frequency/names listed, same as yours -- did you figure out how to get the display shown in the manual??

DSP settings I took from another thread which I think another poster refered you to also.

The speed-sensitive volume control is adjusted through the DSP Menu. search back a couple of pages on this board and look for a post on how a guy figured out the DSP menu system. the function you want is called the GAL function on the menu. i believe from memory that 1 is the lowest setting, and 6 is the highest.....

How do you like the m-audio so far??? have you had issues with it not coming intermittently?? there are dozens of beast owners on the board who have had issues with the audio system not working right--as well as a terrible sounding high-pitched squeal at times, that wil not go away until you restart the car!! BMW is aware of the issue in most M5's, but has yet to come up with a fix....

I am getting my snow-tires put on friday, along with rubber front floor mats, and they are also going to try something new to fix my M-audio problems....

i'll let you all know if it works.

BK- my previous 2001 M5 and current 2002M5 both had the logo floor mats and I didn't ask for them. My understanding is that they are standard.
I have never played with the speed sensitive volume so I can't answer that one but would be curious to know.
My split screen is also like yours and I'm not sure how to change it.

Tell your dealer to get you the M5 floor mats. The VPC put the wrong ones in the trunk. Same thing happened with my '02.
