        memory circuit : steering wheel adjuster : re-wire req's

        ok .... #

just replaced the fat boy comfort seating

        and fitted recaros sportlines

thats means i have to re-wire the memory controller < where is it ? in the dash where the switches re seat heating : center console ? : this box sets the steering wheel location
and is currently stuck up in the fully upright position < as you switch the ign off > so .... the loom for the comfort seats option create all sorts of problems here

I want / need to find the wiring to create a fused feed into the switch on the column so that I can adjust the reach and height but not have this as a memory function

any body done this or have the codes / loom diags ?

any help here would be most appreciated

        ta

I don't particularly understand your question - the memory seat controls are on your door. Are you looking for an additional set of controls over and above those?

I'm totally lost with all the <, >, ?, : in your note - can you try to explain your thoughts more?

More to the point: what is it that is stuck in the full upright position? The steering wheel?

        memory position unit

        Doug

i'm looking for the Seat memory controller storage unit

its the actual memory unit < and its not in the door >
with cars fitted with comfort seationg with massage units :
the unit stores the locations : i.e you set them from the door
those are just the switches which connect to the unit apparently

I'm trying to locate the actual memory storage unit which the controls talk to so I can unfreeze / operate the steering wheel without memory

by removing the comfort seats out and replacing them with recaros seat you effectively cease use of these and as you take out the seats the memory unit locks up

the problem is the stored steering wheel positioning is stored in this unit : the s/wheel resets itself to max lift as u switch off the ign

Its now stuck in the upright position and i need to have it operate manually

agghhhh ... so where is the unit ?

Bored as I am, I decided to spend a few minutes on realoem.com.

Unless I'm misreading it, the memory is built into the switches themselves (on the side of the seat, not the door)...

my understanding is that the switch unit and memory are together in the side of the seat, i think machtig (the member formerly known as reverend) has replaced the unit and may have posted details on it.

Yeah the memory is stored in the module in the actual seat controls. I had the memory problem with the Steering Telescope not resetting properly when you armed and disarmed the car (if you tied the memory to the key FOB) and they had to replace the entire controlling unit in the seat to fix the problem.

Did you have the sport seat with comfort? Any pics? I might be interested for a conversion here in the states.

the switch on the seat is the Seat Memory Module, This module stores the hall sensor movements in the steering column and seat travel.

        making sense ...

        Kill

        Ok & arggh !!! : I think your'e right

< Although BMW vines data techs's say its some where else on the comfort seat option & they haven't come back yet : I'll find out tomorrow when I call in the dealership >

so I've just stripped the unit out of the comfort seat to have a look @ it
found the feed wires in the block out for the column and will now trace them back to the floor harness plug numbering

thinking about it : second option

it maybe going to be esaier / simpler to wire a new live feed into the column housing directly to the adjuster column switch and just forget about the memory re-wire : the only thing which would be stored would be column positions anyway which is not that much of an issue

the wheel is way to high with new seats in position
        i'll send some pics tomorrow

thanks for the thoughts / help will keep you posted
