Your thoughts/review on Powerchip software?

I am about to bite the bullet and go with PowerChip's 93 software. I have heard great things about this software from reading others' reviews. But, I wanted to get a feel from people on here as well.

What are your thoughts on the software? What differences were felt/gained with the PC software? Any noticeable gain in power/torque?

I know some may not have 93 programming, but curious as to everyone's over all review and experience with PowerChip's software.

TIA

+1...I have yet to hear a customer that wasn't happy with the Powerchip software...

I have enjoyed my 93, but after recently having bearing failure, I wonder if the raised rev limit is a contributing factor.

I have 94 octane PC s/w. Using that level of octane (and considering that I have headers and SS exhaust) the most noticeable improvement is in midrange throttle response and pulling power, IMO a significant difference and well worth it. One thing I did not do is raise the rev limit - I asked to retain the stock limit - raising it on a street car seemed pointless and potentially problematic over time.

You can purchase PowerChip 93 software without raising the rev limiter? I did not know this.

I can definitely see problems arising from raising the rev limiter.

Anybody else experience problems with their PC software? Specifically, if you've raised the limiter. Thanks

Very pleased with mine. Both before and after SS headers. Great service from Wayne, Travis, Joel, etc.

I tried a higher rev limit, but also went back to stock. Power holds reasonably well to 7300, the PC/Dinan revised redline, but after that it falls off noticeably. Unless you do a lot of track work, there is no need to wind out past redline in a big torquey V8.

AFAIK, every one with a 3.45 diff has raised the redline to 7300 to offset the lower speed in gears occassioned by the deeper gears. I don't think occassional runs to 7300 are going to do any damage to any otherwise healthy engine.

PC will set any redline you want, I don't think they charge extra for that feature. Just because you set it at higher than stock doesn't mean you HAVE to use it!!!!

As others noted, much improved cold performance and much better throttle response throughout the range. It will feel like you dialed up "sport" and then hitting the "sport" button is even more fun!

Not sure if there is a horsepower gain, maybe 3-4 (need dyno testing and about 50-100 miles run in so the computer can "learn" the new parameters to really measure it).

Don't buy it for the horsepower, buy it for the improved driveability. It really makes a difference in every day driving IMHO.

I just had my vw touareg chipped today by powerchip and i can tell you they do some great work. I have the v10 twin turbo diesel touareg and power went from 300hp to 360, torque from 553 lb-ft to 630. The car is even more of a beast than before and maintains smooth drivability. My M5 is going in soon and that should turn out equally well. Just wanted to comment on Powerchip and make sure people know how good their product and service is. Me = very happy customer.

I realize this thread is old, but I raise the question again. PowerChip Group offers a (remapped ecu?) product that baffles me. PC93 for e60 M5 does what for $1495? I've read this link twice and still can't justify this product as useful. http://www.powerchipgroup.com/datasheets/2/Bmw0214.pdf
Am I missing something here? PowerChip group is sitting back saying; "Give me $1500 and we'll give you... Nothing"

The rev limiter will be increased but that seems to be it. You should call them and have them justify what exactly you get for $1500 because that's a lot of money for close to no improvement.

I've been considering Powerchip myself. Good info to read.

Ripped off / Total Loss

I was ripped off by the Power Chip company after finding him here in the Forum. It appears that they have shut down operations here in the US, and moved to Australia. I paid them and have yet to get it, and they went dark on me not responding to emails.

Their phone number is shut down.

They are frauds.

If you have any questions about it feel free to message me and I would be happy to share their emails with you.

Call your credit card company and try to dispute the charges if not too old.
