Minnesota's Concorso Italiano: PICS Of The 2007 Wheels Of Italy Show(51 Large Pics)
Wheels Of Italy is a Minnesota based organization founded by two passionate Alfa aficionados, who saw a need to bring together admirers and owners of Italian motorcycles and cars here in the Upper Midwest. The annual show held every Summer has steadily grown to become a very well attended affair, and this past Sunday's 5th gathering proved to be the best one yet.
A few years back, Dan and Phil, WOI's visionary founders, were gracious enough to have my Minnesota M5 group display our cars at the show as well. This year, due to work commitments, I was unable to bring our M5s together and exhibit. BMW was well represented, however, and there was a most impressive display of German/American/British exotica in addition to the beautiful Italian machines present center stage.
Our M5 corral at the WOI Show in 2004.
John(Ike02) and family arriving at the show this year.
Maserati Mistral.
Arrival of F430 Berlinetta and Spyder.
F430 Spyder.
In a Sea Of Rosso.
A superb V8. F430 Berlinetta.
Bella Machina of the two wheeled variety.
My favorite bike of the show, a BMW R100/7. Seeing this bike roll in with a rider bedecked in vintage helmet and goggles evoked a powerful sense of nostalgia.
A very nice Aprilia.
The car that almost started me down the path of Italian automobiles 25 years ago: a fine Alfa GTV/6, here a 2.5 liter example.
A pair of Lamborghini Diablos rolling in together, befittingly in red and black.
Gorgeous Gallardo in Blu Caelum.
A WOI staffer.
250 GT California Spyder.
275 GTB.
250 GT SWB.
I love these beautiful Borrani knock-offs.
250 GT Tour de France with 250 GT California Spyder in the background.
Italian, or French?
Very rare and very cool 1970 de Tomaso Mangusta. One of approximately 250 surviving examples of 400 built. Hand fabricated steel and aluminum body shell. Powered by a 289 c.i.d. Ford V8.
Aluminum gull-wing engine covers.
de Tomaso Pantera.
Another Ford powered supercar.
Ford GT.
Ford GT in Carbon Black, I mean Midnight Blue, a very rare GT color.
Aston Martin Vanqush S. Note humorous re-badging of the bonnet .
The Vanquish S has a most impressive and sonorous V12 exhaust note.
Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
Sibling rivalry.
Incredibly beautiful and sweeping roof line of the V8 Vantage. Viper nest in the background.
Porsche Speedster. A true classic.
The defining Porshce supercar of our generation: Carrera GT with rear wing retracted.
Carbon fiber everywhere.
The beautiful, stratified birch/ash shift knob meant to evoke memories of the balsa wood shift knobs in the all-conquering 1970 LeMans winning 917s.
Rear wing fully deployed.
Impeccably prepared Z8.
My favorite modern Ferrari, a 550 Maranello in Tour de France Blue. The 550s are 6-speed only, the F1 Sequential gearbox being introduced later with the 575 M, or Modificato.
575 M in Grigio Metallic. F1 sequential gearbox.
Another 575 M, in Rosso. Note also the 330 GTC and 365GTB/4 Daytona.
M6, still beautiful after nearly 30 years.
My thanks to Dan Schaefer and Phil Slavik, as well as the entire staff of Wheels Of Italy for orgaizing another fabulous show. Hats off to all the owners for sharing their pride and joy with fellow enthusiasts.
Moderators, please move this thread to a different forum if you see fit.
Thank you for reading.
