Just had a 2007 550i loaner for two days with steptronic and 7k on the clock. My first impression of the 550i was wow, really nice car. I really enjoyed it for the two days and kept thinking what the new M5 might be like. It had great brakes too.

Anyway, I got my M5 back tonight and instantly felt the quicker throttle response, sure footed suspension and an overall tighter car. The 550i will never be a substitute for the E39 M5.

I may test the E60 M5 but I will not replace either my 2001 540i sport or E39 M5 for a 550i ever.

Be vvvvery thankful u got a 550...I got a 2007 328I w/ manual seats (I didn't even know they actaully made this crap) and on top of that they have the balls to put the white & blue on front of the hood...
I would have been happier w/a Mini I think.
I got the 325I after I waited for 2.5 hrs for a BMW rental...since they were trying to stick me in a (Enterprise premium collection: a Dodge Avenger)
I called the manager and said I have a $900.00 rental coverage for my car I'am not driving that for 2 weeks.

BTW did not mean to take away from ur post, but as you can see I was very upset.

Not sure what you mean by "after I waited for 2.5 hrs for a BMW rental etc."?

I always know that I will get a BMW with no wait and I never pay for it? In fact, I always ask for particular models so I can check them out.

I got a 525xi a few weeks ago. Ok car, but zero balls and soulless - I felt lost in the crowd with it. What's up with the new turn signal levers? Press down to turn left, then press down again to stop the blinker?

we sent in an Audi A6 Wagon for some Insurance body work and enterprise hooked us up with a dirty PT cruiser. yay! talk about matching cars!

Agree on the new blinker...sucks...have a 328i loaner while the Beast is getting a Dinan 3.45 rearend. The loaner is slooooooooowwwwwww compared to the Beast and feels like an everyman's car...I am like a kid waiting on Christmas to get my baby back.

I used to go to Seattle and they had 5s, X5s, X3s, and 3 series, the 7s only went out with 7 series owners. Now because of multiple bad experiences I am going to Bellevue, they only have 3s.

I know what you mean though, an ///M will always be an ///M there is no comparison.

I had an E60 525i... FOR THREE WEEKS before I traded it in on the ///M5 all I have to say is Yuck, Yuck, Yuck! I hated the interior, way too cheap of materials and the power was so crap!

Why don't i get a loaner? I hate my dealership. I would kill for a Camry instead being one of three be shuttled around by a chatty old man in an X3.

My dealer's policy is to give loaners only to those that bought cars from them...which I didn't. They made one exception beacuse something was taken apart and the part arrived late. So they gave me a 328.
