Source for GT1 machine (VA, USA)?

My mechanic has decided to get a GT1 machine, but is having trouble sourcing one. Is Central Letter (http://www.centrallettershop.com) the only place authorized to sell GT1s?

Any help from the forum would be greatly appreciated by DC area M-car owners!

Its BMW's diagnostic computer. There is no problem with BMW for independant shops to have the tool. I know of many indy shops that have invested in the $17k computer and never regreted it. Dinan has used one for 4 years now.

Exactly - BMW does sell to indy shops that are BMW certified (which my mechanic is). Only problem is that the tool has been out of stock at Central Letter for a while and he's trying to get it from a different supplier. If Central Letter are the sole suppliers in the US, then my mechanic may be SOL.

all manufactures are required by law to offer their equipment to the public. Any joe Schmo can buy a GT1.

Pretty sure Central letter is BMW's sole distributor for all service products- and if they don't have one you're SOL... unless you find used.

The GT1 may be out of stock because there is something newer.

Just a thought.
