Thinking about installing black grills

Bavarian auto has a sale on their black grills. Does anyone know if their grills are of good quality and do you think black grills would look better than the chrome on a TiSi car? Thanks

Black grilles look way better IMHO! Great, cheap mod.

Brian

PS. How much are they at Bav Auto?

Here's a silver with black e39. IMO, it gives the beast a more aggressive/sporty look. Chrome is great, more "executive" but for me I like to show off the aggressive look.

My ride isn't TiSi, but it's close and you can get an idea with the same front end.

Hope this helps!

Imo, I don't like them at all - the pictures from BMWMPWR - one is at night with the angel eyes on and the one with the chrome grill is done in daylight - not an even comparison.

I've seen others and again, jmho but, I much prefer the chrome.

It's all about preference.

I was gonna go with the black from BavAuto, but decided against it.

I painted my shadow chrome, which is a gunmetal finish. I just posted a thread about it, scroll down a bit and you'll see it, with pics.

I'm personally going with a gun metal final finish (I also plan to do my wheels Anthracite to go with the theme).

Again, all about preference here. I didn't like the chrome look AT ALL.

It's all subjective. But I personally not like the all black, it's just too much. The touch of chrome works better with the lights. Complitments even better if you have the AA intakes, IMO.

It is subjective and of personal preference. My bad for attaching "sub-par" pictures I just thought to help with the limited pictures I had at my work computer being that I recently did this change, and so apologize for not attaching true side by side before and after pictures. Not to be anal, but the pic with the AE's on is in the shade, during the day not at night- not that it matters.

I'm not a fan of black kidneys on darker colored beasts. Seems to just blend in. For me, the chrome kidneys were the only chrome on the car- and I wasn't going to get "chrome" wheels. I just ended up preferring this look because it broke up the monotony of the color of the car and like I said there was no other chrome on it. The black grills also matched the bumper guards. I switched back and forth with the chrome and black kidneys for a couple months and finally decided to stay with the black kidneys.

00M5MD- you're going for a good look that is aesthetically pleasing and "balanced" with your wheel selection. I hope it looks as good as you envision it!

If my beast was a different color, I may have a different opinion on color coordination such as this.

In the end, it is relatively/subjectively cheap, just be careful with the Chrome kidney clips as they are easy to break.

Again, hope this helps your decision.

.
Hopefully! That's my goal ...

I'll be sure to post a thread with many pics when all is set and done. I still need to take far away shots under the sun of my grill ..

00M5MD, where did you find the shadow-chrome or black-chrome paint? Is it a tinting, or an actual paint? I'm hoping to both smoke the rear/side lenses in all my cars, as well as make black-chrome grilles and trunklid badges for the M5.
