does anybody have experience with this?
i was contemplating a 125 shot of nitrous with a dry kit (easier and less expensive) and our manifolds are not desingned to run fuel in them.
but have a couple of ??
1) how much more horsepower do the stock injectors handle
2) can our ecu be configured with a switch to run two different programs(N/A and Nitrous)
have you ever seen broken ring lands and piston skirts of S62? I did and the scenery is awful.
125 shot, wet or dry, will soon kill the piston rings of a S62, if it is not fully fogrd and not prepared.
just think of repair labour and spare parts and a new block`s costs.
Oh, come on, man! Nitrous is no different than boost when properly tuned. All you're doing is adding more air to the intake charge. If you don't compensate the fuel load, yeah, you can blow rings and melt a hole in your pistons in (literally) 2 or 3 seconds.
...then again, if you don't compensate for boost, the same outcome occurs.
Cantresjr, dry nitrous kits are somewhat like drifting through neighborhoods. You might feel safe in having fun that way, but when it comes down to it, you're chancing a serious problem each time you partake in it.
Nitrous can certainly be safe, and can certainly be effectively used if you're drag racing. Spend the extra money, though, and invest in a wet kit with at least two, and preferably three or four, safety switches (WOT only, main engagement switch are an absolute minimum, I'd like an RPM range switch as well, and possibly a momentary switch). You will have safe, reliable way to spray, and the peace of mind that your $20k motor won't blow up.
1. go buy/rent/borrow/steal a hyundai accent base model or VW Transporter
2. drive above vehicle for at least 2 weeks when going to work, on the highway, leisure driving, etc...
3. return car
4. bless the BMW gods for even giving you 400hp in such a fine sedan
