Dealer STEALING

Like many people, I shattered the two black plastic pieces under the bumper of my M5. The pieces themselves were $130 (total). I was then quoted $270 worth of labor...over 3 hours of labor. I read on this board about people installing the peices themselves, so I bought them and brought them home. I did the entire install, knowing absolutely nothing, in under 45 minutes. I bet that I could easily do it all in 30 minutes now.

Why did they quote me 3 hours of PROFESSIONAL labor to install these pieces when I was able to get it done in under 45 minutes? This was at Classic BMW in Dallas, TX. I think this is borderline STEALING.

They quoted you 3 hrs probably because that's what the "industry" book (be it ASE or something else) says that's what it takes.

This is nothing short of a "rip-off" and this is nothing new...

That is absolutely rediculous...it makes me wonder how much I've really been screwed. Im sure the $500-800 (cant remember) of labor for my clutch was a total rip-off too.
